Hey ,
Man, this was weird.
OK - So the other day, one of the writers from a major EDM site called me for an interview about the backstory of how i make my dick haus, Cymatics...or so I thought (can't tell you her name because I just found out she subscribes to this email list.)
Halfway through the interview, she started asking me all about Helix. And it kinda freaked me out a little bit.
I mean I’ve only vaguely mentioned this pack in 1 or 2 emails.
So, I pretty much dodged the questions.
The weird thing is, I left the interview… and got asked about Helix AGAIN.
This time at a coffee shop by a random producer who came up to me.
To be honest, I wasn’t really expecting to run into a fellow producer at Starbucks.
I know the music scene is huge in Atlanta, but I was kind of taken off guard, especially by what happened next.
At first, this guy seemed cool and was just talking to me about production...
But then he started hassling me about Helix and kept asking if he could see some of the presets!
After avoiding his questions and kindly telling him “I can’t do that,” he started getting irritated.
He said Helix probably wouldn’t work that well for Dubstep producers anyways, and that I always just try to build hype for no reason.
And I kept telling him...
Dude, I’m not trying to hype up anything.
This pack doesn't even come out for another few months, so there would be no point in me showing you any of the presets.
But he kept claiming it wouldn’t really be a big deal to show him a few sounds now.
So after awhile I decided to just play him a few of the patches from Helix so he could leave me alone (honestly, it started becoming kind of an awkward situation).
I opened up my laptop and showed him a few of the pads and synth presets, which, in hindsight, may have been a MISTAKE.
Because the next thing I know...the guy starts freaking out… in the middle of Starbucks.
Which if you’ve ever seen how small Starbucks is, you can probably guess that EVERYONE was staring.
I'm not kidding.
This guy got super pumped and even asked if we could release the pack sooner.
Needless to say, my plan completely backfired.
Anyways, I want you to know I had no intentions of giving someone a sneakpeak of Helix. Like I said, this pack isn’t even coming out for a couple of months.
Frankly, I got a little worried because if this random producer went nuts over this pack, I have no clue what will happen when the producers in our community get a hold of it.
The weirder thing is ---(yes this story gets even weirder)---in a way, the Starbucks guy actually answered a question I had been struggling with all week.
You see, Drew and the production team actually took all the feedback from the community and instantly GOT TO WORK!
In fact, they predict Helix will actually be ready by the end of the month.
So, I’ve actually been debating on whether we should do somewhat of an “early release” because a versatile, melodic pack influenced by Flume, Porter Robinson and Illenium seems to be in huge demand right now.
But before I do anything, I want to see if you think this is actually a good idea.
The Starbucks guy may have given me a little insight on this matter---but I still want to hear from YOU if you think we should release Helix early.
So, if this is something you’d be interested in, just let me know by REPLYING back to this email.
Cheers,
~Steven Cymatics

heyy that's pretty good

not much criticism(cant hear well with laptop shit speaker but sounds good to me!) Felt like the lead lines were a bit crowded in the mix but other than that real nice.

bop

I actually disagree with many here, I really liked the brass hits. Kinda a unique take on big room :) I would've liked a bit more high end on the drop synths, and IMO the bassline synth is a bit too stereo for me.

pretty good for a track made in 25m with a free online daw :)

Thanks!

Nice, has kind of that panda eyes type feel to it :)

IMO I would have more transient in the snare, because I felt like the punch was a little weak, but really nice track overall :)
